Kurty was on his own with 7 others, who quickly became 5 others, in A grade. These 6 lapped only marginally quicker (37.4 kph) than B grade (36.7 kph) but then we did have 25 starters. Josh and Charley rode C and the rest (Green P, Toby, Smashton, Geoff, Peter, Jools, Zac, Emilio, Andrew & Drastic) dominated B. There seemed to be no point in the race where we didn't have a man up the road and a team on the front making sure the break didn't go to far away while other riders slowly popped off the back. |

All the usual suspects were out on course and the scene was set for another great National Champs.

On arrival we were greeted with 15 degrees and rain. I headed out for a couple of practice laps to find out what was in store over the coming days. By midafternoon the rain hadn’t let up and the forecast was looking bleak. Staring at my pile of tyres I decided to go for some chunky rubber, in order to find some traction in the slop. |
