The 2012 Real Insurance NSW XC (Cross Country) series will be run over four events this year to determine who is NSW’s fastest XC racer.

Based on the Olympic and National formats of XC racing this is a genuine XC Series. However with a broad range of categories it is ideal for those who wish to test themselves against the state’s best or to simply try genuine XC racing in a fun, dynamic and exciting format.
XC racing is multi-lap style with categories reflecting those in the National series.  Target race times for Elite racers are 1h:45m, lap numbers are determined by the proposed finish times.

Each of the clubs will hold a single round of racing at their venue (track). Each rider will accumulate points according to their finishing position at the end of each race. Whoever has the most points at the end of the four rounds will be the series winner for each category.

The last round doubles as not only the series decider but also as the CycleNation 2012 NSWTB State XC Championships.

Expect some nice hospitality at each venue with perhaps a coffee cart or a BBQ from the local school etc as well as amenities such as toilets, parking, timing etc.

Sashes will be awarded for the top three place getters in each category at each round with medallions for series winners.
Trophies and cash (cash Elite M/F only) prizes are allocated to the winners of the CycleNation NSW championships, as well as bragging rights for the following 12months.

Real Insurance NSW MTB XC Series

Round 1. SCUM – 15th July

South Coast United Mountain bikers  www.scum.asn.au
Contact: Luke Harden  xcrace@scum.asn.au
Nowra has the best named mountain bike club in the world SCUM. (South Coast United Mountain bikers). With trails throughout the Nowra area there are plenty to choose from. The ‘Superbowl’ was the location for last year’s State Championships so it is fitting that we start this season off where we left off in 2011.

Round 2. SHCC – 5th August

Southern Highlands Cycling Club  www.southernhighlandscc.com.au
Contact: Meg Patey  megnjohn@hinet.net.au
The SHCC has the luxury of some of NSW best trails in the Wingello forest and other nearby locations. However this time we return to the State Championship track from 2010. Fitzroy Falls..! Fitzroy Falls is on private property located in the southern highlands. It has a fantastic track which is both flowy and technical in its nature. A few laps around Fitzroy Falls and you will certainly know it. Owned by Brad McGee, this place is only opened for racing a few times a year. We are very happy that the McGee’s have allowed us to race here again in 2012.

Round 3. WSMTB – 21st October

Western Sydney  www.wsmtb.com
Contact: Ray Rice  xc@wsmtb.com
Western Sydney is well known as a race venue with many an Enduro, 4hour, 8hour or a State XC round raced here before. Most riders will know this track well. With a limit of rider numbers allowed in the park for any event which is enforced by the National Parks authority, be sure to get your race entry early to avoid missing out.

Round 4. CCOMTB – 4th November

CycleNation 2012 NSW State XC championships

NSW State Champs
Central Coast –  www.ccomtb.com.au
Racing at Ourimbah is fast and flowing. With some semi technical sections and a giant roll in (complete with a very rideable B-line) this track is a favourite with many riders. Being the last round of the series and also the State Championships should ensure a massive turn out for racing from all categories come race day.
